I have the honour to acknowledge
the receipt of Your Excellency's letter A/2875/11, dated
the 14th. May, 1906, informing me of the general instruct-
-ions received from the War office on the subject of
future transfers of land between the War Department and
the Colony and taking new suggestions with regard to the
proposal for the surrender to the Colony of a portion of
the site of the battery at North Point, a proposal which

arose from Colonel Brown's letter A/2875/1 dated the 23rd.

I regret I am unable to concur
with Your Excellency that a fair valuation of the land
required for the road would be 35 cents per Square Foot.
I as advised that if it were sold at the present time at
auction as an Inland Building Lot without any restriction
against building on the upper slopes, it would probably
