Ref 2 JUL 06

doverment House,

Hongkong. 31st. May

1906.

I have the honour to acknowledge

the receipt of Your Excellency's letter A/2875/11, dated

the 14th. May, 1906, informing me of the general instruct-

-ions received from the War office on the subject of

future transfers of land between the War Department and

the Colony and taking new suggestions with regard to the

proposal for the surrender to the Colony of a portion of

the site of the battery at North Point, a proposal which

}

arose from Colonel Brown's letter A/2875/1 dated the 23rd.

Pebruary, 1904.

2.

I regret I am unable to concur

with Your Excellency that a fair valuation of the land

required for the road would be 35 cents per Square Foot.

I as advised that if it were sold at the present time at

auction as an Inland Building Lot without any restriction

against building on the upper slopes, it would probably

xcellency

The General Officer Commanding.
